Shipping prices are an important part of any online purchase. We understand that, and we have worked hard to try to keep shipping costs low while trying to provide a secure and safe way to ship. Currently we ship using First Class Mail with delivery confirmation inside the US. We also do ship internationally, however of course, we cannot provide delivery confirmation on international orders. All orders are securely wrapped in bubble wrap and mailed in a bubble mailer to protect the merchandise inside. If you ever have additional questions about shipping or shipping methods, please feel free to contact us at any time.

It is important to pay the sales tax invoiced to you so that your mixtures with ship promptly and without delays. We must collect the sales tax before we are able to ship the product(s) so we appreciate your understanding in this matter. Q: Does Mythos Mixtures use synthetic or essential oils in their perfumes?
A: We use both! We know that the buzz term in perfumes right now is "essential oil" but when we started making scents, it was really important to us to make scents that smelled great, didn't include any animal by products (with the exception of honey or beeswax), and were affordable. After a lot of scent experience, we realized that great smelling perfumes were completely attainable with a mix of essential and synthetic oils and that because of the lower pricing on synthetics, it meant lower prices for our customers.

In order to help clear up some common misunderstandings about synthetic oils here is a little more about them. Fragrance oils (or synthetics as they are sometimes called) are far less taxing on our natural resources (especially when many of those resources are becoming scarce in some places, like sandalwood, a very popular oil scent). Fragrance oils are usually a blend of essential oils, synthetics, and absolutes, something most people don't often realize! Many oil companies use fragrance oils and most people never realize it, because the differences can be very difficult to ascertain at times.

By using fragrance oils we also keep from limiting ourselves creatively (and financially - some essential oils take so many natural resources to make that they are incredibly exspensive - which makes fragrance oils all the more valuable in those cases!) - certain scents are not attainable with essential oils, because they cannot be derived from nature (like lily). A common misunderstanding is that fragrance oils aren't just a cheap way to get the fragrance without the cost - they can be quite high quality, with scent results that match those of essential oils (as they usually contain some essential oil themselves). Just think of how many scents we'd be missing out on - like one of my personal favorites, strawberry.

It is not possible to get strawberry essential oil! Others (just a few) that do not produce essential oil: apple, cucumber, gardenia. And remember too that many essential oils have harmful potentials just the same as fragrance oils (pregnant women should not use Pennyroyal for instance). The downfall of synthetics is that people who are sensitive to fragrance are more likely to have problems with them. We sympathize with people who have to deal with that, and we do caution our customers to be careful if they are sensitive or have experienced adverse reactions to fragrance before.

We hope to bring a better understanding of fragrance oils to people and a better appreciation as well. We love essential oils as much as the next person, but we love fragrance oils also! It's wonderful to be able to enjoy the benefits that both have to offer. Should we ever have any blends that are 100% essential oil, they will be marked as such.

Q: What about animal by products or animal testing?
A: We do not use animal products (with the exception of honey and beeswax) in our perfumes, and all of our musk’s are completely synthetic. We also test every single oil on ourselves only, to ensure that they are safe to use!

Q: Do you use "stock oils"?
A: Stock oils usually refer to pre blended perfume oils (such as oils designed to imitate designer fragrances). We do not use stock oils, all of our perfumes are created and hand blended by us. We come up with all our own perfume recipes and concepts and create them on our own. That is, after all, part of what we take pride in - getting to be creative in the field of scent experiences.

Q: What kind of carrier oil do you use? Is there any alcohol or water in your perfumes?
A: There is no alcohol or water in our perfumes ever, we have a real passion for fragrance oils that do not contain either of those. We use refined jojoba oil as our carrier oil and we only use enough so that the perfume oils are not so strong that they are unsafe. We like our perfumes to pack a lot of punch but we also want to make sure that they are safe to use on your skin with little chance of a bad reaction. Our carrier oil isn't a "filler", it's there for the safety of our customers!

Q: I'm allergic to something, but you don't always list the notes used in your perfumes. How do I find out what to avoid?
A: We don't typically list all the notes we use in each of our blends, and sometimes not at all (we do like a little mystery after all!), but we definitely want to make sure that people are able to use our oils safely. We caution people with severe allergies or women who are pregnant to be very careful and pregnant women should probably avoid our oils all together to be on the safe side. If you are allergic to something in particular please just contact us and we'll do our best to help you out! Please always be safe and do a small patch test of oils on your skin first (like on the inside of a wrist).

Q: Do you ship internationally? What do write on the customs forms if you do?
A: We do ship anywhere in the world, but we caution our international customers that we write "fragrance" on customs forms so if that is not allowed in your country, please contact us and work it out before you place your order. There are so many different types of customs rules all over the world that it is impossible for us to know what is or is not okay to send overseas to every different location. Please make sure that you can accept fragrance shipments where you live. In cases when a value is needed on the customs form as well, we do write the actual value of the products.

Q: What is the turn around time?
A: Our turn around time is currently just a few business days. We usually ship on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Recently we have changed and made our international shipping available on any of these days as well so that it's more convienent for our customers. If your order is placed after 5 p.m. Central time, it most likely will not be shipped out till the following shipping date. For example: You purchased on Tuesday at 5:01 p.m. it might not go out until Friday. An order placed on Monday at 11 p.m. would be shipped out on Wednesday. We try to ship all orders out as soon as possible and while these time frames are rough, we try to make sure that the turn around time is as low as possible for all our customers, regardless of their location.

Q: What methods of mailing do you use?
A: We use First Class mailing world wide. We also use delivery confirmation for packages in the US ONLY. Most packages are shipped in bubble mailers with extra bubble wrap.

Q: How much perfume oil do I get with vials and bottles?
A: The vials (samples) are 1ml of oil and the bottles are 5ml of oil.

Q: I noticed that a particular perfume smells different on me than it does on my friend?
A: Body chemistry plays a big part in how certain fragrances will smell from one person to another. Part of the fun of perfume oils, is finding what works for you and what doesn’t.

Q: Who is behind the artwork done for your top banner?
A: We were so honored to have Reed Hawker do our artwork and you can find more of his fantastic artwork here. Thanks for asking and we hope you enjoy it - we know we couldn't be more pleased with the results. Thanks again Reed!
